A.  PHILOSOPHY:

#1 We are a ball control passing team with the ability to take advantage of the long ball on almost every play. Our passing game is based on speed routes by the receivers with little or no faking, and the QB throwing the ball on a time basis. We must release the ball almost as quick as our last step in setting up to pass.

#2 We will base our pass offense on multiple formations and multiple movements by different receivers.


B.  METHOD:

#1 Use an ever changing picture with the drop-back attack, utilize extra wide receiver in special situations … throw to backs to maintain pressure.

#2 Use a disciplined pass system when all men released are potential receivers and that each man is giving 100% effort and is in exact route area at the exact time the QB wants him there to enable the QB to read the defense and hit the open man. Never “fool” the QB!

#3 To deploy our inside receiver into a Read System so that multiple coverages used to take away one or both outside receivers will be limited.

When one or both outside receivers are taken away the Read System enables the inside receiver to have the opportunity to go through for the big play.


C.  CRITICAL POINTS:

#1 Effective use of formations (to force the defense into predictable coverages).

#2 Number of interceptions per attempt = no more than 1 PER 25 attempts.

#3 The ability of receivers to run their routes exactly as assigned regardless of the coverage they are facing.

#4 The ability of the QB to read his key or keys quickly and to react to the defense by hitting the open man with the knowledge that all receivers are running their exact assigned routes.

QB Coaching Point 1: Never pass up an open receiver to look for another.

QB Coaching Point 2: We will never ask the QB to check receivers on one side of the formation, then turn and throw to a receiver on the opposite side. You will check #1 & #2 (POSSIBLY a #3) to same side, and if not open throw the ball away.
