I have a question about changing splits from play to play, even when running the same play.
For example, on inside veer we usually have aiming points like inside leg of the guard for the FB. We would like to have 3 ft splits from C to G and 4 ft splits from G to T if they will move out with us or tip off which gap they are playing. As a DC, when I see splits really big I will have my LB run through, which often works. So suppose we have to cut those splits down to get the job done in some aspect. Now the inside leg has moved down a foot or more. The mesh footwork / aiming point you have practiced all week / season has moved. What do the backs do in this case, make the track a little wider on the OG on ISV?
