Inside Zone ?

That is exactly how we do it ! I took over an offensive line this year that, prior to this year, had no technique. The kids were pretty athletic but were not taught technique previously. The year prior to me being there, they had a terrible rushing game (approx 600 yds rushing) . I started working with the kids last winter, I stressed "building a foundation" stressing the little things as far as technique is concerned. We decided that we were going to find a play that we would hang our hat on (inside zone). Initially this was a very long and arduous process. As the kids became more familiar and comfortable with the "little things", a light bulb started to come on. It was fun to watch.
I introduced the covered/ uncovered principle and they began to pick up on it pretty well after a while. This season we rushed for over 2000 yards (almost 300% better) and passing for over 1800. This was not bad due to the fact that we only had 2 seniors that started. The rest were freshmen, sophs, and juniors. The season before the O-line was the weak point this year we were the strong point week in and week out. I was really proud of how my "Fat Boys" responded. It just goes to show that if you stick to the basics and don't try to get too cute, the kids will respond. I would like to attribute their success to my coaching but in reality this was a great group of kids who bought into what I was selling. The good thing is that we have 9 returning starters coming back for next year.
