Our All-Stars are going to the Austin Bowl this year in a couple of weeks. I would have liked to have gone back to one of the LSYFA tournaments but due to our league getting started a week late and then adding two weeks of playoffs to the schedule we just couldn't get our team together in order to make the last tournament this weekend. We really enjoyed them the past couple of years and look forward to hopefully returning there next year if possible. Any idea as to why there's less interest this year?

The All-Star tournament is this coming weekend, December 4th and 5th in Austin. Lotta talent on this team and has been a lot of fun as well working with several other coaches from our league. I'll provide a full report upon returning from Austin on Sunday!

Just wanted to give you an update on our all-star team's trip to the AUSTIN BOWL this past weekend. We started off a little tight against a team from Humble by turning the ball over 4 times in the first quarter! Fortunately our defense was able to control the game until our kids settled down in the second half. Our first game ended 35-0 with 6 minutes remaining in the 4th due to a mercy rule we were previously unaware of. We were beginning to have problems trying to keep the score down as the kids on the other team began to tire and wear down. Our second and final game of the weekend came Sunday afternoon against the host team from Austin. They had some size and speed to go with it. After surrendering a score early in the second quarter to tie the game 6-6, we once again got it going and wound up winning 21-6. They were a very physical team but in the end our depth and overall team speed put us over the top. There was an outstanding team from Lewisville running the bone very proficiently but unfortunately we were not able to get in a third game against them. It would have been fun to see how we would have fared.
Overall it was a great opportunity for our kids to compete against other quality teams from other areas of our state and a lot of fun for us as coaches to boot. That pretty much brings everything to a close for now coaching wise, at least until clinic season and 7-on-7 get kicked off in a few months. Time to catch up on a little quality family time and along those lines we'll be heading to Santa Fe, NM for a week at the end of this month to hopefully allow my 10 year old son to see snow for the first time!
I sincerely hope you and all of the coaches that visit the JCFB.com site and their families have a safe and wonderful holiday season.

Dave, Sounds as though you did a real nice job once again! Cogratulations! Enjoy that family time together, that really what it is all about. It will be time for you to start again before you know it. We are in our 6th week of off season preparations already. Weight lifting, cardiovascular regimens, class room. I do it 12 months of the year, wouldn't have it any other way! May the good Lord bless you and the family with excellent holiday times.
