Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TEAMS ARE RUNNING OFF-TACKLE WITH JET ACTION TO THE TE SIDE AND THE OPEN SIDE? ARE YOU REVERSING OUT OR OPENING STRAIGHT TO THE HOLE?
TO THE TIGHT SIDE WE RUN DOWN (G KICK'S OUT DE) WITH SOME SUCESS.

Coach,
We also run down to the TE side, it usually makes the DE widen when he sees jet motion and we run down to the FB and kickout with the PSG. You can also run belly or dive to the weakside doing the same thing, run jet motion to the SE side. The DE widens and dive the FB or Belly step the FB to the B gap. You can cross block your G and T or on block at POA.
We reverse out just like we would on the jet sweep everything looks the same, just a fake to the jet back and give to the FB. A good fake by the jet back can draw the DE, LB, S to him and the FB runs free on a dive, belly, etc. . Good luck.
We developed a "Jet Down" with our WB in response to OLB's & SS widening out to stop our basic Jet Sweep. The key was to delay the jet motion by just a count, in order to let the PSG get ahead of the WB (jet back). The WB planted at a 45 degree angle behind the PSG block on the OLB or DE. This play worked great all year for us, especially the first couple of times per game. We ran almost exclusively out of an unbalanced set. Our "Semi-Pro, Right" formation put the SE and one WB to the TE side (with WB in the Slot) and really stretched the defense. This usually created a good seam for the RB to cut on. It looks just like the jet weep except the ball carrier cuts up inside of the TE.
Also, if you can find material from Bruce Cobleigh on his "Red Light" series on Jetsweep.com. Similar to what I am describing but with a more north/south cut.
I love this forum - I have learned more about the option and zone run game from here than from all my books and clinics combined. That being said, the best sources of wing-T/jet/rocket info are at bucksweep.com and jetsweep.com - tons of experience with those offenses like the kind you find here.
I have coached both the wing-T and the jet/fly scheme from different backfield sets. With a double wing set the ice play is great - the playside wing "folds" underneath the OT or goes over the DE to the LB just like belly as described by Coach Tinglof. I have also seen counter-trey away from motion with either the FB or backside WB/HB - this is a core play for one team I coached against several years ago. The nastiest play was a simple outside veer-type scheme to the split side where they left the overaggressive DE unblocked - the OT/OG down block/combo inside and the wing seals the force player. Twice I saw the FB run untouched for 40+ yards. Another play that could be run away from motion is the "double dive" or outside belly play that has been used by Bellevue HS (WA - USA Today #8) with great success. After the jet fake, the QB rides the FB into the A gap, then hands off to the backside wing/RB who follows the pulling OT outside - playside blocking is base w/down block from the TE. Great play for teams that don't run down or belly option, but you really have to rep out the ride portion of it.
Did you guys know there is an entire forum devoted just to wing offenses (Wing-T, Single Wing, Double Wing) on this board? Lots of lively discussions going on there!
