Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Are you using the boxes for plyometrics? If so, what routines do you use? How benefical have they been for use? Your thoughts & input will be appreciated. Thanks!
Plyometric boxes have been around for a long time and are excellent. I'll let Jimbo and others give you the scientific breakdown of how and why they work, what specific muscle groups they are really benefitting, etc. All the boxes I have ever used are 3 x 3 and we do everything imaginable from end to end. The athletes are working to be able to stand on one side of the box, vertically leap up and over clearing box and coming down on the other side. I feel this plyometric box was in great part responsible for my son developing a 41 1/4 " vertical leap while in college. It has long been a personal contention that if an athlete can jump, HE CAN RUN.

Coach -
We do the BFS Plyometric Program before we lift on M/W/F. I only have about 3-4 kids who are physically prepared enough to jump up on the boxes. I have the other kids do a modified workout. Basically, I have them step off of a 20" box and then jump straight up and try to bring their knees to their chest as soon as they hit the ground. These kids also spend a lot of time doing dot drills.
Keep in mind that running, bounding, skipping, dot drills, and even playground games like hopscotch are all "plyometric" activities. You don't have to jump on top of a 40" box to be doing plyometrics.
