Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
At CentraL Montcalm HS I developed a combine system for our athletes we test them in 10 events versus a peformance chart that scores them points and 1 event that is scored strictly by how your time falls versus the others in your group. We use their Offensive positions: Line (T,G,C, TE) and Backs are all others.
Events (Scored vs. Tables):
Bench Press Paralell Squat Power Clean 20 yd Shuttle Run Dot Drill Vertical Jump Standing Broad Jump 40 yd dash 1600 M 800 M Super Lap
Event (Scored based on competition):
Obstacle Course
We take the last week of our summer program and test the kids. It has increased participation and improved the attitude of the kids. they are no longer worried about did jimmy help bobby on his bench press. We maintain 87 different records broken down by grdes and positions and keep those in a binder along with all testing sheets in our weightroom so kids can see them.
I am going to restructure our "1000 Pound Club" and our "1250 Pound Club". Kids will get a t-shirt based on the following criteria:
3RM for Squat 3RM for Bench 3RM for Trap Bar Dead Lift Body weight for each pull-up performed (Example: a 135-pound kid does 3 pull-ups, he adds 405 pounds to his total.
We reward our kids based on 2 criteria the first is our ironman club. An Athlete qualifys for Iron man with 75% attendance in our off-season program. If he qualifies for Iron man, he is then eligible for our point clubs that start @ 500 and increase by 100 from there. We currently have a 500, 600, and 700 point club. But we have 3 kids threatening to go over 800 points this year.
An average score to get into the 700 point club would look like this:
Bench Press--16 reps @ 150 LBS--64 points Paralell Squat--11 reps @ 275--68 points Power Clean--16 reps @ 135--69 points Vertical Jump--31 inches--64 points Broad jump--84 inches--64 points 40--4.75 seconds--66 points Dot drill--51.5 seconds--65 points Shuttle Run--4.24 seconds--64 points Mile--6:10--64 points 800 M Super Lap--4 minutes and 24 seconds--64 points Obstacle course--finish in 19th place for you position Line or back--64
716 Points total
Scores are on a 100 point scale wiith potential to reach 125 points in the right circumstances.
All ironmen and point club qualifyers receive a t-shirt and recognition @ a picnic after our last 2 a day practice.
Coaches i am having difficulty getting the stuff out via e mail if you send me your regular address at charrison@cms.maisd.com I will be happy to mail the stuff out to you.
Coaches thanks for all the interest in my combine sysytem. I've shared information with coaches in 5 other states and I would be happy to share it with anyone. Have a happy Easter.
The Obstacle Course is fifty yards long and it's width is from sideline to the far hash.
Stage 1 starts with 5 agile bags set up about 1 yard between each, in one corner of the course. Players will run forward and backwards through them until reaching the end and then must shuffle over top of the bags touching both feet inbetween each bag.
Stage 2: Dummy DraG: on the opposite sideline 20 yards upfield there are 2 of our larget and heaviest dummies. Players must drag them or carry them all the way across the field and drop them outside the course.
Stage 3 Sccop the ball: 1 yard upfield from the dummy drop is a football on the ground the player must scoop the ball up and sprint 9 yards up to a coach and give him the ball.
Stage 4: Straight across the field from the coach are 5 large dummies laying on the ground about 1.5 yards apart and in the middle of the course. Players will high step/Long stride over the bags with only 1 foot touching between each.
Stage 5: Ten yards upfield we use 4 shields to create a 5 yard by 5 yard square. Player sprints up the near side of the square, Cariocas across the top, Backpedals on the far side and cariocas along the bottom until reaching the first shield.
Stage 6: Slalom course is set up using cones ( we prefer the soft 1/2 cone) the course is angled towards the finish line and should cover about 10 yards.
If you cannot understand this, (I/m not quite sure I do!!) then I can send you our information packet.
Our kids love this event it tests speed agility strength power and endurance.
Our best current timne in theis event is 36 seconds flat.
we assign penalties for not properly executing stages
We just had our 2005 Combine and the unbelievable happened a player scored 1001.5 points!! He is a JR and our starting TB. Some highlights included a 4.51 -40 time, 20 reps @ 170 pounds on the Clean and a 28 inch vertical jump.
If any other coaches used my system I would like to know how it went.
Well another off season is upon us. We are looking at a couple of potential changes to the combine to make it moore football specific. The 800 M Super lap and the mile are likely to be replaced by the 3-cone drill (used by the NFL and NATS) and the 300 yard shuttle run.
Once I complete the pre testing I will be able to share the tables with anyone who wants them.
If you are still on here, I would love a copy of your combine program. I am a new HS coach and I want to try to increase involvement in our offseason program.
