I just recently read AFCA's Football Coaching Bible. It is an excellent read. Not much X's and O's, but great philosophy and program-building ideas from the best coaches in America.

Does anyone know where to find "The Winning Edge" I looked on Amazon and Barnes&Noble and all they have are used copies for over $60. Anyway if anyone sees one at a half price bookstore or anything like that pick it up and I will pay for it. Otherwise let me know if you have seen the book anywhere else.

Two best books I ever read on coaching are currently out of print but they should be a must for every young coach.

1) Principles and Play by Dave Nelson - All theory - no particular offense or defense - rather covers generalities. like theory and advantages of playing inside leverage (8 man front) defense. Disadavtages, etc. covers every aspect. Actually diagrams are old but the theory still applies

2) Hot line to victory - by Woody hayes. Although set in his offense and defense it does the same as above. Just the interview section alone is worth it. (They still use it in one ivy league business school for this part - incredible.)

Both were written as classroom textbooks with teaching in mind.

Unfortunately, I loaned both out - you know how that goes.
