Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
pardon my ignorance, but isn't that what makes the option WORK?! You THINK you see one thing - but there is a play going on that isn't even remotely like that...
Site Administrator- What is happening to our posts? We are posting, follow the thread for a few posts to read what others have to say on the topic. Then, when we return a second time the posts are all removed except one or two. Whats up with that?

If one team is just physically outmatched by another, it may not matter. But if the two teams are pretty equal, a good option team will eventually hurt an undisciplined defense. What if everyone sees the FB have the ball, then the QB pulls it and is out the gate? The real key to stopping the option is pursuit.

It is my opinion that MAKING THE DEFENSE DO WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO BY FORMATION IN THE PSL IS KEY, rather than pursuing them a whole lot. Figure out who you DO NOT WANT TO KEEP THE BALL, and then by formation take it out of his hands in the PSL. If the offense starts changing it up, and making it a PREDERTERMIND KEEP, GIVE OR PITCH, then it is no longer an option but a predertermined play. I guess that is why they make Neopolitan, we all have different tastes. Go with what you know and with what you are comfortable coaching. Coach, if your system isn't broke, then by all means don't fix it, go with it.

As a coach who has made a career on running the midline and the veer, I will open up my splits and have the QB give the ball the entire game. We played a team this year that did not play ANY option responsibilities. I don't think the QB kept the ball more than twice. Now, we did not predetermine our option-- but by the time the end pursued, we had already gotten yards on the dive.
At least tell your read key to kill the fullback!

Those are the nights you pray for, eh? It would appear to me that type of coaching ( your opponent the game you speak of ) doesn't know which end is up. They were just lining up and playing sand lot ball. I feel sorry for his kids! You had fun though, right? I know I would have!
Coach Easton PS: Did you ever find your assistants you were seeking yet?

Coach, I interviewed for a job tonight at a bigger school and a public school. Wish me luck. To answer your question, I did find the assistants, and I probably will be taking most of them with me if I get this next position.
If a team doesn't play option responsibilities, we'll dive them to death. Get ready for wide splits, double teams, and a lot of straight-ahead running.
Good to hear from you Coach Easton!
