Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I run a 4-2-5. We walk up the twin ss's (OLB's), drop the Mike to a shaded nose. Roll up hard on the corners. If pass shows SS's run with TE and back out. We drop FS to a depth of 6 yds, but keep him in the middle. Basically, the 4-2-5 becomes a diamond 7 with rolled up hard corners with inside leverage. we are going to make them run the corner, not give up the quick slant. Mike is reading FB all the way. If we have time to change out, I pull the Will Backer and insert a true nose. Just my way, as always.

Coach Easton, I tried to Email recently, however one of my Emails was returned. If possible, I would like to know more about your 4-2-5. If it would be better to email, that would be great, or even on this open forum. Maybe that way everybody could benefit. Anyway, I appreciate your insight and knowledge. OJW.
P.S. you mentioned about the 7-diamond. I learned what that defense was during a game vs. Sandlewood when I was a pup coaching JV at Jackson. We were running the split-4 and Bob W. had come down from Varsity to show us up. He was running the offense and killing us with his split back veer. Our old A.D.-Bob Furnai sent me a note at half time where he had drawn up the 7- diamond on the back of an envelope-it said, "Coach try this." We did and put Bob's 10th grade Varsity 2nd string QB in the hospital. They were negative yardage for the game. He was mad with us for years. Crazy thing was the varsity coach put it in as a base defense that very year. Just the fun of coaching in the "good old days." Hope to hear from you soon. OJW
BOB WITHROW WAS MAD FOR YEARS AT ANYONE WHO COULD BEAT HIM, WE DID IT PRETTY REGULARLY DURING MY RAINES YEARS. HE WAS A GOOD COACH, WE ALL GET A LITTLE BENT OUT OF SHAPE WHEN WE LOSE I GUESS. Like most things today, you don't see the 7 diamond anymore. That doesn't mean it still doesn't work! If you eamil me at: jerryeaston1@aol.com you should not have a problem. My hotmail: coacheaston@hotmail.com lets you in one time a week, I sure don't know whats up with that? I just don't like tying up the board with long posts that always happen when you talk defense. I am in my 11th year with the 4-2 5, wouldn't change for a million dollars! That doesn't mean that I don't have a slug of fronts ( I have some 15-16 50 fronts alone) and we change up alot, sometimes giving as many as 4 different looks during one series. But, my "Dallas 42" (4-2-5) has more than proven it'self to me.
