Help:Need ideas for a speech

As a teacher I've given many of those types of presentations both to students, and staff/administration; Here's my tips:

Use your voice... raise it at times... lower it at times.

Move about the room - REALLY circulate! Try and cover all the aisle ways (but slowly - and you don't always have to be moving)

Be ACTIVE - talk with your hands. If you are using PowerPoint - DON'T read off the powerpoint (one of my pet peeves!) cover those points but don't 'read' it.

Start with a realted story - these are great attention grabbers. For example while getting my teacher's qualifications I gave a presentation on Native Residential Schools - I started out with a 1st person story on the experience these people had 'going to school' (uniforms, heads shaved, given a new name, not allowed to speak the native language). I had the entire class (and two professors NOT in the class) hooked in before we actually started.

What ever you do... do it from and with the heart. That makes the most powerful speakers - those who speak from the heart.
