Hey coaches I am or was a head high school football coach who recently got the axe. What things should I do professionaly to help me get another job. The job I had was a bad situation and a big parent problem, need I say more. My first thoughts were to call the papers and tell them the true side of the story, then I calmed down. This was my first head job and my first time I have ever been released. I don't know what to do or say. Can I get a little help? Advice please.
For what it is worth..........in my community all coaches are volunteers, no money, no perks, so we are actually treated really well, the community appreciates us giving our time freely to a sport that we love. The win column isnt as big an issue here as student athlete development and participation, they are the measure of our success. But I know that every road in life has potholes and bumps, the trip wouldn't be worthwhile if it was too easy. We all tell our players to never quit, keep going and something positive will happen. I think sometimes we need to take our own advice.
Hang in there. Good coaches get released every year!!!! High school, college, etc..... It seems to be the nature of the beast these days. Keep working hard, find ways to keep learning this great game we all love, continue to make connections with other coaches. Somthing will come up, maybe as an assistant for a few years, but be patient!!! What I have seen is most head jobs that are open, are open for usually a bad reason. (coaches fired by piss poor admin support, parents, kids not willing to put time in etc.....)

Coach as much as a person might like to tell the paper and the world what the real problem is or was I would suggest not to say anything and go on about your career. Don't burn briges. Things happen for reasons and this opportunity to just left will prepare you for the next opportunity. Good luck and I'm sure all will work out. Coach CAmpbell
Thank you all for your help. It will get better and I have learned a lot from this experience. I will keep my mouth shut and go about my bussiness. I think it was a bad place to be anyway and I feel there will be a better one out there.
