Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I watched the Big School state championship last night in KY between Louisville Male and Louisville Trinity. These two schools have played each other the past two years for the state championship and split. Last night was the most entertaining High School game I've ever seen! The two QB's were on the cover and in Sports Illustrated a couple of weeks ago and they lived up too the hype! Brohm(Trinity): 19-25 552yds passing 7TD's 9 carries 52yds 1TD 604 total yds 8TD's 0int's Bush(Male): 33-47 468yds passing 6TD's 24 carries 116yds 1TD 2 catches for 24 yds lead blocker, kick returner etc etc 608 total yds 7TD's 1int(by two inches in the endzone to end the game!!)
I can't even begin to explain the performance of these two! Both defenses have been awsome all year but that was the best coached, best executed game plans offensively (especially by Coach Coverdale at Trinity) that I've ever seen!(Male's Coach is Chris Redman's dad) It's supposed to be on Fox Sport Ohio on Tues I think.
Yes that's Coverdale of the "Bunch". He called the best offensive game I've seen by an offensive coordinator! The defense's were 1 and 3 in the state so it wasn't a matter of them being bad. It was one of those freak things were two teams just couldn't be stopped! Trinity scored I think 4 times in 6 plays at one point. Male always plays press because they have the best athletes in the state but got torched all night. They finally dropped a FS but it didn't matter. Male would go 20yds, 15 yds, 30 yds , 25 yds TD. Trinity would get the ball and go 80yds TD. Brohm hit reciever after reciever in dead stride 40yds down the field while Bush could only be compared to Michael Vick while at Virgina Tech!! These two put on the best display I've ever witnessed and Bush never came off the field. I'll try to get copies and trade them for your highlight films or something. I love watching highlight films especially of teams that throw the ball.
I would LOVE a copy of that game tape. When I finish making this year's highlight tape, I will gladly send you a copy. We throw the ball fairly well, with a D1 level QB.
I would love to get a copy of the game as well. I am not a coach yet, so don't have much material. I probably could get a copy of some of the state semi-finals in the Georgia Dome this weekend. Most notable would be the AAAAA Parkview believe they are # 2 in the USA Today, behind De La Salle no doubt. Just let me know if intrested.
Id also love a copy. Brohm is being recruited by ND. All I could offer you is a copy of my 1998 state championship team from Wisconsin. We didnt toss the ball much so I dont know how interested you would be. We were a split back veer option team.
If you want to exchange let me know

I should know by tonight if I can get it. I'll keep you posted. I'd say Bush will go to Ohio State and Brohm to ND, Lville or KY. His brother Jeff QB'ed Lville.
Stick - What I hear is that alot of people think he will go to Louisville because of his brother but his father wants him to go to Notre Dame. It shall be interesting because I am sure he will go to the ND summer camp. We have to worry about this years recruits first

I replied on the passing board, but Trinity runs a multiformation hybrid of the run and shoot with other more standard west coast/modern passing offense staples. Tough to put them in a category.
The head coach is named Bob Beatty, and he was the one who brought the offense. Coverdale was there the year before he came. Beatty developed his offense at Kansas City, primarily when he had a QB being recruited by the University of Houston and he and the Head Coach at the time(Beatty later became head Coach there) and they got to spend like 10 days with John Jenkins and Mouse Davis had come in also. Says he learned more football in those 10 days than he had his whole life (all this according to a clinic I attended.) Basically it's a multiformational approach to passing, with a lot of run and shoot principles in there.
One of their favorite plays is the run and shoot choice, but they may tell the choice man exactly what route to run and keep him in it, though the middle read guy always has his reading. Also, the system looks pretty run and shootish since basically every pass is a half roll. However, they do incorporate other things, such as another favorite is the flood route as well as the simple curl flat or curl-wheel route. They also run plenty of WR screens.
Coverdale though has done an impressive job working with the offense, and I believe he calls the entire game himself, and I'm sure he has a great amount of input into the offense etc, but I don't think it's fair to call it Coverdale's offense if the Head Coach brought it with him. But you can see Andrew Coverdale's imprint on it now.
I saw the game on FoxSports, and it's a wild one. I've seen Male, who they played, in years past and they look the same as always under Bob redman. They get fantastic athletes year after year, but on defense all they play is press man every play with cover 0. But they have the athletes to do it, 6-2 210 pound guys who run a 4.5 knocking you to the ground every play. But Trinity did a great job doing some things, and one thing they did a lot of is the stack, and at least once the defense did not cover a man, and other times they had a hard time getting to them.
In a nutshell, they ran the choice out of the stack formation. It's a great call vs man/press. They also just threw the fly and had a WR that nobody could run with! He had 300yds on 7 catches with 3 TD's. I think Marshall is pretty big on him. I also watched Beatty at a clinic talk about the choice route. I think Coverdale probably used the stack/bunch theory and they adapted the play. The triggerman for Trinity is as good as they come in High School!! I have the tape now and since I have so many requests, I'm going to have you send me your highlight video (or any games you played vs big time passing schools) and postage to return. I'll dub the Male/Trinity game and send it back. I'll be back and forth during the holidays so it would be best to do it in Jan. If you can't wait go ahead and email me now.
