Which is easier to make adjustments with?

WE haev done both. This year we did not flip within the front 8 but did have a field CB and a BC. We felt we would gain an advantage by flipping this year. In 2002-03 we did flip flop our DEs strong and weak, unless teams did not have a tendency, or they would come to the LOS and trade the DE.

After seeing that a few times we will come up and sugar count and go on the first sounds, usually when they are flipping around.

There is too much parity between players at the high school level to do otherwise. We flip all players on defense except for the noseguard (obviously).

I was typing way too fast and not thinking straight. Actually I apologize for the use of parity as it is an antonym of the word I should have used: difference

Here's what I meant. The differences between strong and weak players is great at the high school level, so that you can get the matchups you need to succeed. There is too much difference in talent and ability at the high school level. Flip the players so that you can get the best possible matchups.

Flipping cuts down on teaching kids different techniques. If you have a 5 that goes to the split side every time, he doesn't have to learn anything else. If you don't flip, now he has to learn how to play a different technique, say a 7, if he has a TE to his side. I believe if a kid spends a lot of time learning how to play one spot he will be a much better player. Also, if you play a defense with a tough position like a 7, your lucky to find one kid who can do it well, much less two.
