Coach we use two different punt fakes. I install the speed option where the ball is hiked to the personal protector and the punter becomes the pitch man and the other fake is a trap play where the ball is snapped to the personal protector and backside up back pulls and kicks out the EMLOS and the personall protector runs underneath the kickout block. I've also run the speed option for a fake punt- My PP was my QB. I ran it a few times during the year and then as a progresson we ran the speed option with a throw back screen. Our opponent undoubtably knew that our fake punt was a speed option by scouting (it was our 8th game of the season) so we faked the option and then threw a screen back to the up back on the opposite side... The backside guard and Tackle took an influence block step and then released after a two count to block for the screen. It was very successful. Too bad we only got to run it once.
Here are a couple of other fakes that should fit into your existing schemes.
1. A counter off of the speed option. Have the Personal Protector (PP) run the option path, with the punter staying in pitch relationship to the right. Have the left side of the line block down. Pull the right gaurd to kick out the EMLOS, unless he gets too far upfield, then just let him go and look to seal inside. Pull the right wingback or end to receive an inside hand off from the PP, following the lead of the pulling gaurd. Can be used successfully after teams have seen you run the option.
2. A "dump" pass. Direct snap to PP. Have him line up about 6 yards deep. Upon receiving the snap he will run directly forward to the LOS. This will cause the LBs to step up to stuff the run. Release the right end/wing to the center of the field about 5 yds deep to replace the LB. The PP will stop just short of the LOS and "jump shot" a pass to the end/wing. Can be used successfully after teams have scouted the trap up the middle.
All fakes must be game planned based upon your opponent's defense. Speed option away from the overload, trap versus a team that has no defender left in the middle, etc.
A successful fake is typically a matter of game plan to take advantage of a weakness or match-up that you like - not just trickery. However, the element of surprise with something your opponent may not be prepared for can, and does work.
Evaluate your punt formation, and decide where your "players" are aligned. Then design plays to create match-ups.
Regarding fake field goals - it is a matter of coaching philosophy. For me, again it relates to match-ups, my kicker and the players that surround him. Regarding PAT's, I never go for two until late in the fourth quarter - then it is my offense; i.e., if I need two points, I am going to rely on my offensive unit. If it is 3 critical points, I am probably going to kick the field, unless it is at the edge of the placekicker's.
Hope that gives you some ideas.
