Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I would go to a loaded front strong with a 3 7 and 9 tech (outside of Wing). Combo coverage on the X receiver with the C and Saftey. On the weakside I would have the corner and Weak backer play a deep/short man combo on the TE and L. 4-4 personell substituting a LB for a saftey.
I would go to our "60 black" goal line package. That entails our walking up our twin monsters to the los on either side and putting our Mike Backer down as a shaded nose. Monsters are in a 4 on the TE and a 9 on R. That makes us solid across the front with the strong corner rolled up hard on the inside of x playing bump and run forcing him to run the fade if he escapes. We are not going to give up the inside to him under any circumstances! Backside CB and monster will jam TE not letting him out! This is critical! If L comes out, monster will maintain block on TE and CB will break off and run with him. Frontside monster will lock on R in tight man! FS will roll down and cover F if he releases.

our best plays are a deep fast motion from R to the hips of the FB running
a lead sweep weak belly weak belly option weak
we will run the the same motion and run belly strong with the Overbalanced tackle folding inside on LB. This play was lethal for us. That tackle will surprise the hell out of a LB coming from the outside angle.
yeah 1 and 5 on the weakside one SOLB is lined up on R thetwo inside guys are stacked over the 1 and 3 and the WOLB is lined up inside the 5 tech. off the ball
If we are reading run to the weakside alot as you seem to prefer (I do also, could never understand running at the strength all night) we will adjust or stem to compensate. Against this formation we would kick our backside 4 to a 5, bring the backside SS off the LOS and he will have a better angle to attack the lead blocking FB (put him at 3 and 3 off the los) Have the Will Backer play a mug backer alignment 2 yds deep and 2 yds wide off the los on the backside reading R all the way! Our line (everyone!) would slant gap attack to the backside with their ears laid back! Backer will read FB all the way and if play goes back to strength will audibilize (Yells "Blue" to indicate play going opposite way of anticipation to help redirect our efforts). Again, just my way.

In above adjustment you see we have went with out a MLB, as Mike is down as a shaded nose and we have made the Will a Mug by moving him. That is the kind of faith I have in my DLM's. They may not make the tackle everytime, but they will spill to the outside into the waiting arms of our perimeter players!
