Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am trying to establish a good foundation of defensive goals for our team. I do have some of my own ideas, but was wondering if any of you have goals that you feel are most important for your defense. Any and all responses would be appreciated.
For example, 66% 3rd down effeciency, 4 turnovers per game, 90% in the red zone, No 10 play drives, etc.
We used these for our base defensive game goals. We face mostly running teams, but when we play a passing team we will up change them around a little, maybe to hold them to <50 yds passing, to hold a stud receiver to no catches, etc. Last year we faced one of the leading receivers in the state and I thought our guys might be a little intimidated in the weeks leading up to the game. I set some very high goals vs the pass and I think it motivated the guys and gave them confidence that I thought those were realistic goals. I am very glad we started posting and keeping track of game goals in all three phases.
Defense 1. Hold oponent to less than 100 yards rushing. 2. Allow the opponent no plays longer than 15 yards. 3. Two sacks. 4. Eleven players flying to the ball on every play! 5. Force 2 turnovers. 6. No blown assignments.
A very successful local team has just one goal for their entire squad:
"One or None"
One TD or none allowed for a game. They feel it involves every phase of the game. The offense can't turn it over, special teams must cover well, etc...
We have always went into each game with the goal of outhitting our opponents. We believe if you do that, all the other goals you could come up with have a good chance of being accomplished. 9 times out of 10 the more physical team wins!!
My main goal of any game is to have my athletes prepared, on both sides of the ball, as well as, on special forces in such a way as to be superior to our opponents by being better prepared both PHYSICALLY AND MENTALITY to execute our game plan.
