Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
How do you put in a game plan with your players? For instance, on Monday, do you you put your offense on the ball and show them the different looks they will see from the opponent? Or do you give handouts and keep a normal practice schedule, and take away from the full team explanation time? Thanks in advance.

Coach our Monday practices are modified to accomidate the installation of our opponents schemes and also gives us a look at what we feel will work and or need to adjust. We meet our players before school to hand out scouting reports and then during that afternoon practice we install vs our opponets defense, monday is more walk through and teaching with a big emphasis on a hard conditioning period once we finish. Then tuesday and wed. we get after it. Coach CAmpbell

Coach we start off with individual time so that each position coach can install with his players. The the QB's and Backs come together for group, while the receivers do one on one's with the DB's then after that then we do pass hull with QB's, Back's and receivers. WHile this is all going on the offensive line has been together by themselves. Then later on we come together as an offensive team and run our offense that we want to use that week vs our opponent. Coach we use our JV team to service our offense. Coach we two platoon our team so the JV defense services the offense and the JV offense services the defense. Coach CAmpbell
Weekly game planning actually begins once the season schedule is set. Film for all of the season's opponents is uploaded during spring football. All of the coaches are expected to watch opponent's game film on their own. During the season, asst coaches are emailed game plans for the coming week's opponent by the DC, OC & Special Teams coach on Saturday morning after a Fri night game. Asst coaches are free to email, text or call for clarification on the game plan and are at liberty to tailor the week's position drills to help better prepare for the task at hand. If we are planing to press cover all game then the DB coach should employ drills during that week that focus on press coverage. This is the major extent of coach responsibilities...know what we're doing and prepare your kids to know it too.
Key players/personnel are notified of any changes in their roles for the week's opponent during Mon weight training. The changes are announced again during Mon Offensive and Defensive film study. During the week we focus on the following On & Off Field Periods:
Off Field:
Weightroom = Strength Coach oversee daily team workout
PT w/ Trainer = Meet w/ Trainer to set PT and/or be cleared
Film Study = Analysis of opponent game film by platoon & special teams.
Position/Platoon Meeting = Players meet w/ position coach or by O/D for teaching & strategy
Team Meeting = Team meets w/ coaching staff to cover logistics and disperse program information.
Coaches Meeting = Coaches meet to discuss team/player performance, personnel for upcoming week, opponent scout, program evaluation/input.
On Field:
Stretches = Static or Dynamic Stretches to warm the muscles
Individuals = Work on Fundamentals, hands, feet, etc
1 on 1’s = Players should combine technique w/ competitive effort to win each rep
Special Teams = Solidify personnel and approach, include situational scenarios and personnel changes
Run Drill/Inside Run = Run game coordination.OL/RBs work blocks/run lanes, DL/LBs work gap & read responsibilities.
Offense Install = Implement new plays on Offense
7 on 7 = Skills players on O & Back 7 on D run through assignments w/ No linemen
Team O & D = Execution of Team O or D vs Opponent Scout. Scripted plays@ ¾ speed or full speed..THUD, no tackling
Thursday is a polish day with walk through and last minute tweaks. We get to it right away after school and try to finish within 40-45 min so that we can hand out jerseys and then support the JV team if the game is home.
Friday includes chapel, team meal, Offense, Defense & ST meetings & walk through. Coaches who can be there typically monitor players in the locker room during dress. Offensive coaches bring up the Press box equipment and Defensive coaches bring up sideline monitor.
The week goes by quickly so we ask the players to be focused and sharp. We emphasize repetitions, retention and execution and hope that it carries over to Fri night.
