This is for all the fly sweep guru's out there. I am coaching at a small high school (40 kids on the team). Our main formation is a twins open set (twins to one side and no TE on the other, he is split out 15 yds from the OT) with an "I" backfield. I wanted to know if anyone has seen blocking schemes for running the fly sweep out of this formation, or has known anyone to run it from this formation. I dont know if it is possible or not without a TE, but just wanted some info. We have a speedy slot and would like to get him the ball some more. Thanks in advance for anything you have.
We run it from the offset I with the FB offset away from the sweeper. The FB acts as a lead blocker with the pulling guard. Can be run from splitbacks or offset halfback (FB behind QB, HB even with him behind the OT) as well.
