Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What is the story with this play? I have watched teams like San Diego State, Bowling Green, and Utah run this play. The slot comes underneath like a shovel pass. The QB has a pitch or keep option. Is anyone doing this? This past college season was the first I saw it.
It is MORE of a TRIPLE OPTION, because the QB can pitch on the shovel, keep the ball, or pitch to the trailing back. I have run it with the FIRST two options, but never the third (Purdue called that the "REVERSE OPTION").

I saw the play at a clinic, and it was called a "double option" as you described, to me it could be a tripple. The read is as coach campbell described at the DE or 5 technique, if the QB is looking at the 5 tech. he looks at the numbers, if he see's the chest numbers he pitches, if he see's the outside shoulder numbers he keeps. I quess the third option could be to pitch out to the halfback this could be a nice addition to the play.

in a two back scheme or running into a slotted receiver you can get the triple opption. 1. Shovel 2. QB Keep 3. Or Pitch two the back coming around or the slot working into pitch relationship. Coach Campbell
Ahhhh Bill, hit me with the diagram of the play please.

I've got a question regarding the shovel / double option: When optioning the EMOL, what is the QB's attack point? He's got to stretch the end in order for the shovel to work, yet not get too wide in order for the pitch to work. What has worked for you?
If any of you get the Sunshine Network from down in Florida, they have been showing the Florida Gator's spring scrimmage. Urban Meyer runs it NUMEROUS times. Just a way to see it in action.
I never got mine, if you get time would appreciate it. By the way, do you mean your ACTUALLY going to run a play out of another set other than one back??? Just kidding.
