Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coach, I read before when you were talking about running the option that if you were running inside veer and your QB saw a 5 tech Tackle it was an automatic give. If he saw a 4i it was an automatic pull. If the tackle was playing head up, it bacame more difficult because the defender was not initially showing his intentions. My question is this. Was it ever a problem for the QB to look over and see the position of the defender(4/5 tech) or did the tackle give some type of signal to the QB telling him where he was? In other words how did your QB get the position of the Tackle, did he just look or did your offensive tackle give a signal to the QB telling him. I want to give my QB this advice but want to be able to teach him to see the 4i or 5 tech. How would you say was the best way to teach this. Thanks, History 10
Your QB must be taught to keep his "head on a swivel" and not give the play away by STARING in the direction of the read. As he breaks the huddle he begins his PSL and when he gets up under center he already has the guy in whatever technique read. Just teach him to use his PERIPHREAL VISION AND KEEP HIS EYES MOVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE UNTIL THE SNAP. WE do not use anything audible, although you could just as in zone blocking when the tackles yell out the tecnique over them. If your going to do that, have both tackles and maybe a guard yell out so as not to give anything away.
