The dot drill is fantastic and dont bother buying an expensive pad with dots made on it because you can just paint them on the floor or use stickers or etc...

What kind of time segment do you coaches use for your dot drills? For instance when a kid is doing a ceratin pattern on the dots do you have him perform as many reps as possible in 30 seconds??
Not sure why you coaches feel the dot drill is such a great exercise. It grossly overrated. I can see some merit in the single leg dot drill, but it has limitatons. I suggest spending time performing drills by Lee Taft (First Step Quickness Drills) rather than hopping around like a rabbit in a square area.
The dot drill can be used as part of the general warm up before lifting, but I do not see much application beyond that. Since when do you bunny hop in multiple directions in a football game. IMO, the dot drill is part of a marketing scheme by you know who for people who cannot create more applicable drills. LIke I said before, some of the best quickness drills, drills that are very applicable to fb, can be found via Lee Taft. This is not an advertisement. It is a testimony from a coach who has spent hundreds of $$$$ in the past on crap that IMO was worthless until I found good first step/quickness inform that made sense and produced results!
