Our town paper does a "Senior spotlight" where a couple seniors are featured. They pretty much give a biography and tell about their HS memories and what they'll miss, etc. I was reading this week about a kid who played football for only 2 years. He is very unathletic, not interested in sports at all, and I would classify him as about a 9 on the wierd scale (out of 10 of course). Anyway, Billy's most memorable moment of HS was a JV football game his sophomore year. One of the few games he actually overcame the injury of the week he was playing in a JV game. He explains how he was playing FS and another kid would come in to return the punt on 4th down. Well, one time he didn't make it off the field in time and was left in on 4th down. As per everyone's instructions, Billy tried to "GET AWAY" from the ball. Sure enough, he was unable and the ball somehow took a bounce right at him. He kind of trapped it between his legs, then ran 15 yards (probably more like 5 yds sideways) before being tackled. This was a good reminder of just how special this game is to me, and to everyone who ever plays it.
