Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
The load option is run at an 8 or 9 technique when there isn't an outside invert (linebacker) present. It's run because it's so easy to get the ball to the corner.

Load in our terminolgy refers to blocking a defender that we usually would pitch off of. For example the triple typically has you reading the DT for the dive, the DE for the pitch. We would read the DT, block or load the DE and pitch off the force guy or SS. We just did not want the QB making those quick back to back reads.
Coaches, Just another thought here. We would load the alley player more often than the DE when we called "Load". It just seemed easier for my QB and pitch back, and it was successful for us, so we stuck with it.
Just another endorsement for those of us who don't believe taking our safties down in the PSL as is popular with the 30 defenses of today, is the way to go. Thanks for that reinforcement of our technique.

Our "Load" refers to sealing the 6 or 7 tech, and pitching off of the 9 technique. We only run this to punish teams who begin to move the DE to an inside position to take away FB on triple. Our FB or Slot then goes to the alley player. It has been an effective play for us.
