Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Recently, I've switched to a new school and they do not have any blocking boards. Would it be cheaper to make them or is there an inexpensive outlet out there. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Personally I just use good old lumber bought and cut to size....2x12's about 6' long I think is what we have. I am at a small school with a limited budget....our Ag department even built out chutes and running sleds for us.(only payed for materials....free labor) That is just us though.
We just use tube dummies...especially the big ones. The ones that you straddle and feel like you are walking like a rhine-stone cowboy. It has helped to get the kids used to maintaining a good base throughout the duration of the block (elephantitus).
Bill is right, bevel the boards for safety and do not leave them out in the sun because they will warp. Years ago I purchased some lumber at Home Depot and had them beveled the mistake I made was during two-a-days left them out in the sun and they got warped.
It has been so long I think they were 8 feet long; long enough for the chutes. The boards I purchased were as big as the rubber boards, I believe. What is the width of the fence boards; you want your linemen to maintain their base on drive block so you don't want their base to narrow. You do not have to spend a lot of money I have used towels to teach the flipper action of the crowther progression. I have used rolled towels (visual landmarks for feet) for teaching the drive block and so on.
I am going to buy some rubber flooring (for weight rooms) and cut them into the same size strips we have always used the boards for. I really would like the T-Boards you can see Coach DeLeone using in his blocking tapes, but they're so expensive...I'm thinking they're made from the same material as our weight room mats just not quite as thick.
