Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
In the "G" scheme, while playing Robber coverage (inverted 1/2s with the corners playing 1/2s) vs a double width formation such as a Pro I, how do you fundamentally play the 2 #1s if they release vertically up the field? What are you telling your corners to do? How should they play this? I know that they are the deep 1/2 player, but I guess I am asking how you teach them to leverage this and maintain their deep 1/2 responsibility?
They have to stay both inside and ontop of #1. The OLB's will rally to a short throw in the flat. Most teams who play this type of robber play the corners 9yds deep and about 2yds inside the WR.
Okay, Thanks Coach, I think I am starting to get in now. So as #1 progresses vertically through out their routes the CB maintains his inside "2 yard" leverage. For example, to what i am asking, if #1 releases vertically on a fade or, if he releases vertically and then starts to run a skinny post the CB will keep the inside leverage on #1. Now does this convert him to man on that #1 in these situations? Or is the CB just playing over the top in a zone tech, "nobody deeper than you"?
