Coaches, I need to know something from you. Now this won't take much. How many of you HEAD VARSITY football coaches graduated from the school at which you coach. I'm trying to see if there is a tendency here. I eagerly await your responses.

Graduated from my high school in 1990... started teaching and coaching in Fall of 1998 as a varsity assistant for 5 years, now I'm starting my third year as the HFC... and a JCFB board reader for 2 years!

Last year, I was a finalist at my High school that I went to and used to teach at. I did not get the job, but I made it to the final two. I am currently a Head Coach at a school about 15 minutes away, I always wanted to coach at my old school, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I thought being an alumnus would help, I'm sure it helped to get to the finals???
The problem is that not many actually have the school their coaching in their blood. I believe that more should be aloud to coach. I don't care if there teachers or not. Get someone in there that has some pride in the school.
Graduated in the 1970's, spent many years developing football in the community and took over the HC position at my school two years ago. I agree that having someone with heart and a committment to the school can make an indelible impact.
