I was woundering what kinds of camras you guys use to film your games. Im looking to buy one out of pocket and Im very familiar with you get what you pay for but Ill bet yall know where the best deals are. I guess im looking in the 500.00 to 800.00 range. I have a burner in my computer so easy hook up to my computer is needed and also user friendly is a must considreing either a parent or someone on the sideline would be filming. Thanks in advance............
This is our first year going to DV. Our cameras cost around $400 a piece, plus memory cards, etc. We also went to purchase a Direct to DVD burner so the other coaches can use it.
I will be cataloging and cutting it up via Pinnacle Studio 9.0
*** can you tell we're trying to do everything on the 'cheap'?
We are also looking to go digital. We are just in the beginning phases of this and we are looking for the best way to go about it. Brophy, What cameras did you get? Why did you get them? Have you used the pinniacle system yet? Any recommendations on how to go about this process?
The JVC GR-DV500 (retails at $800) is an extremly good mini DV camera that has lots of options, excellent optics (zoom, digital stabilization, etc) and has a battery life of around 2 hours. Plus, it has firewire, USB, memory card & stick capabilities and is very light weight.

Thanks for the ideas. I have a little homework to do now. Right now we relay mostly on parents to record our games on VHS. That way we get the film right away and watch it that night. ( Also out oc and dc makes copies to take home. ) So Id like to see better quality and more options for us....Thanks again for the info. Ill let you know what I end up with and how it dose.....
What ever camera you buy make sure it is digital - has fire wire for down loading - have a fund raiser and purchase a dvd burner with a 80 gig harddrive[Cheap 600 bucks ] and then purchase a projector for veiwing [ projectors mitsubishi for 700 dollars -these are worth the investment . you will not watch VHS again
