Coach, what an amazing resource this is!! I makes it exciting to learn new things about football. I can't tell you how many coaches I have talked to about your site. I am an aspiring head coach, and I am looking for a coaches packet, or any other type of material that would help me in building a program. I was referred to you for help. Anything would be appreciated. You are the best!! Brian Barnes

What's incredibly important about running a successful program is not just having your athletes buy in, but having your assistants share the same vision as you. I expect my assistant coaches to share the similar values in their personal life, as well as teaching and coaching our kids. Although coaching is a very demanding profession, I want my staff to devote themselves to their families. At the end of the day I want our athletes to learn how to treat their wives and kids, by seeing positive examples with our staff. I want them to maintain their integrity with our players, as well as potential recruits.
On the field, I would want my assistants to be very detailed oriented. I want them teaching and improving players at any little thing that could make them a better player. I want to end up being known as a great coach, and I would have to have my assistants wanting the same. They have to demand greatness from themselves to get our players and their specific position groups ready. As a head coach, we're filled with sacrificing, and my assistants need to understand they will be sacrificing a lot to get our program where we want it to be.
Loyalty and devotion to the program is really important. If a coach isn't loyal to his/her specific program, they won't provide their best effort, which will hurt the team. Coaching turnover is often really hard and could sometimes be devastating for programs. If assistants are looking for other jobs (specifically in bowl season), it will show their players that they are committed somewhere else instead of them. It is really common when coaches leave for another program, their past team often under performs in their bowl game because of distractions.
