Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are putting together a youth football camp at my old High School. One group is K-4th grade the other is 5th-8th. Any idea on a schedule or drills for different positions. I'd love to hear from people who have done it before about what does and dosen't work
Coach:
We host two separate 3 day camps for the approximate age groups you mention. Our entire coaching staff (junior high through varsity) will work the camps along with some returning varsity players to help
demonstrate and instruct. We instruct the basic fundamentals of the game: stances, starts, basic drills, etc. We run each camp for 2 hours.
What we found to be successful is that for the younger boys, we run individual periods where the boys rotate through all the positions. For example, for offensive periods - we'll have all the boys rotate and go through the O-Line, Backs, Receivers drills. We want the boys exposed to all of the different aspects of the positions. We'll do the same for our defensive periods. We always finish each day with a passing game. It is basically organized sandlot where we have our varsity players act as the "captains" and coach the teams. The campers have a great time and you'd be amazed how the varsity players get into it.
For the older boys' camp - we do basically the same thing, but will add a drill or so because of their development. Our camp is (6,7,8) graders for the older boys - and this is where we have the boys go to a certain position and stay there throughout individual periods. We still have our passing game and the campers really get into it.
After each camp we give the boys a camp t-shirt with our school mascot/logo on it and really focus on securing these boys for our future. At the end of each camp day, I'll wrap up with the importance of academics, family, etc. We've also had guest speakers - returning players, an official, etc.
These camps have really helped in our recruiting efforts for getting boys involved and excited about our football program. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Coach Campbell:
How are you? ... I love the look of the new board. First class as always!!
We are excited for the upcoming season and our boys are working hard. We have summer h.s. baseball (state of Iowa) to contend with - but our players are making the effort. If we can stay healthy - we believe we'll be in position to secure our school's first playoff appearance since 1976.
How's everything with you? ... As always, I cannot thank you enough for all of your help and encouragement over the years.
