Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
In an earlier post you said the you only teach two concepts in the run game to your kids Counter/Power and the inside zone and outside zone. Do you teach any other plays to your kids such as a simple fullback trap and consider it part of the counter/power ? If no what play do you use to attack the 0 and 1 holes, do you just say that the cutback on the zone will do this good enough or am i wrong in assuming that. basically what i am asking is do i need to include the fullback trap in my offense or is it not needed.
We HAVE run FB trap, but it has never been a big play for us.
Run the "LEAD/NOSE" (or what some people call "WHAM") with the onside zone blocking, the offside blocking back, the "H" motioning in to "wham" the nose (or first man on LOS offside if Center uncovered). With Inside Zone action - RB runs to butt of onside Guard & hits (essentially) same holes FB TRAP would. KEY coaching point is if Center uncovered - zone playside; if Center has a Nose on him - block back.
This has been BIG in NFL. Also attack same holes with ZONE/DRAW.
The COUNTER/POWER series (while considered an "off tackle play" hits to the BUTT of the playside Guard & RB reads his cut from INSIDE/OUT!!!!!
VERY DIFFICULT to describe plays without drawing them. Call me at 804-740-4479, & I'll give you a detailed explanation!
