Coaches,
We started our annual football camp yesterday and the heat was just about unbearable. It was honestly 110 degrees on our field! The temp in the locker room said 100 and the temp rises about 10 above that on our field turf. I really dont know if I have ever seen it this hot here in Ohio. I just want to say to everyone please look out for your kids during this extreme heat. I was out in it for 6 hours b/c I had to coach our high school camp and then our youth camp. I was literally drained when it was over. So is it this hot where you are coaching? Im sure it is worse down south than it is here in Ohio but the heat is nothing short of extreme here. Please be careful coaches.
1st day of our 2hour (3 day) youth camp....after stretching out for 20 minutes we had a 10 year old lineman pass out prior to going to individual instruction....and another kid throw up (heat was approx 95 + index on field turf).....many breaks...
Our Varisty 'camp' starts in two weeks, we are having one practice from 3 - 7pm in the evenings which consists of two, 1 1/2 hour sessions (1st off /def - 2nd Special teams)
