Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
LANDMARKS CHANGE depending on the play (wide zone; tight zone; counter/power combos; ETC.).
Hat (eyes) lead to the various landmarks, but hands make contact. We keep the hat out of the contact, ESPECIALLY on pass pro. IMO it is a fatal mistake to make hat contact on pass pro.
I completely agree. However, every time that we have our Pass Pro drills, I have to reteach this everytime. Chin up, head back, keep the head out of it. I demonstarte the proper technique and then we still screw it up. Althoughm drop bakc pass pro is not big in our offense, there will be times when we will use and I don't want it to be a liability. What are some suggestions?
We don't EVER intentionally put the head in, so we don't teach it. We may LEAD with the eyes, but contact with the hands!!!!!
PS: ONE way to teach them NOT to put the head in during pass pro is to remove the helmets!!!!!!! This is Joe Bugel's favorite way of getting the point across!!!!!

Oneback hows everything gojng it seems a little empty not having Coach Easton and you sharing football, I thank you for your continued support of the coaches that come to our site. Coach CAmpbell
We use a drill that helps the OL get the feel to keep the head up and back on pass pro.
When we work our pass sets a partner will stand in front of the off lineman with a hand behind the helmet of the off lineman. When the ball is snapped the partner will try to pull the helmet forward. The off lineman will take his pass set according to the alignment of his partner and keep his head up and back as you gentlemen mentioned prior. The off lineman will snap his hands up on the set and strike the breast plate of the partner which also helps keep the head up and back.
Thanks for the great thread.
