Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I remember seeing the skip pull demonstrated in the winter by another coach. We want to skip pull our players this year on the Counter and perhaps the Dart.
Could someone please let me know how they teach the footwork on the skip pull?
This will be a new technique for our players! (and their coach).
We use the skip pull technque. Picked it up from the coaches at South Dakota State, and I also think Larry Zeirline (sp) with the Clevland browns teaches it as well.
We teach the skip pull to lead with the oppisite leg. (Just like carioka) So I was to skip pull left, I would kick my right leg back and behind my butt trying to get depth and distance at the same time. It keeps the shoulders square to the LOS, thus allowing the OL to keep their eyes on the defenders.
We use the skip pull on dart and stretch and it has been very effective for us with run through Lbers.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask at any time.
Good luck with the new head job!

After they skip pull and stay aquare... do you have them shuffle or turn and run? (I'm thinking like a BST pulling on the Dart)
Thanks Coach!
Hopefully we'll iron out some of the bumps in our offense early on. We have a VERY challenging schedule -
we also moved up into the top division in our area AND we play the top team in Week 2.
But with great challenges comes great opportunity!
I would say its more of a cross-over run keeping he shoulder square and coming tight off the double team on the dart play. We tell the OT we want to kick out the Inside Lber (work inside out). The play has worked best for us vs. good lbers who react well and run down hill to fit the gap and we kick his butt out and the RB sticks it up in A gap for a big play. Kyle Flood the OL coach at Rutgers key coaching point to the dart play is to tell the RB to trust the "A" gap.
