JUST LOOKING OVER SOME NOTES THAT I HAVE AND I SEE ONE COACH USED TO CALL IT "POUR" WHEN THEY RAN THE IZ TO THE3 TECH BECUASE IT WAS MORE OF A LEAD. HE CALL IT "CUT" WHEN THEY RAN THE IZ TOTHE 1 TECH. WHAT DO YOU GUYS BELIEVE. WOULD THE PHILOSOPHY ON THE OZ BE THE OOPPOSITE OFTHE IZ?
I can have a lead blocker if I choose, if that is the case then I will tell my ps combo normally responsible for the PSILB to stay on their combo because we are sending the RB to the PSLB. On the OZ I have looked into folding but have not comitted. Why are teams so commited to the 1 tech on the IZ, and why does it not matter on the OZ>
If you (vs MANY defenses) run the IZ to the 1 technique - it give you THREE possible double teams. ALSO - you have a chance to CRAM THE B GAP (without having to "cut") which is the OBJECTIVE of the IZ (I.E. "The BEST cut is NO cut")!!!
On the OZ - you can run it equally as well to either side. If you teach RB reads like A.Gibbs (if you haven't studied his video - do so!) you cut off down linemen (NOT LBers ON THE LOS) & have a equal chance of success.
This is very hard to discuss via email - too many "what if's"!
