Use a TE,maybe even double tights.Run outside veer, inside veer, down sweep, and switch'em.Outside veer-Tackle and TE double DT to OLB WB arc to CB.Read SS for dive/keep.OR Double DT with DT and TE,send WB straight to OLB(crack)Read SS for dive/keep,pitch off of CB.Inside veer-Tackle inside for OLB.Center,Off Guard NG and MLB Read DT for dive and pitch off of OLB TE arc to SS and WB arcs to CB.OR DT on OLB TE down on OLB read SS for pitch .WB arc to CB.Down sweep-TE down on DT WB down on OLB.Pull Tackle for SS.FB on CB.Guard on MLB. Switch'em- Step DT outside for OLB,WB underneath for OLB.Read DT for dive pitch off SS,Run this out of spread NO TE.Lead option down is good play, same as outside veer but FB leading on CB.Hope this helps,GOOD LUCK.P.S. Get unbalanced!
lotiefs@bellsouth.net.I know many people like to spread out a 3-3.I am just the opposite.I like the angles TE's get and WB's get on OLB's from this set.I much rather my FB or Slotbacks one on one with a CB or FS than a LB,especially if the DT's and LB's are playing stunting games with you. You can double the DT or the OLB every play!
If the DT lines up in the G&T gap, instead of head up on our OT, should we just tell the qb
he will have automatic pitch or should he go the other way?
1) Loop the PST to the OLB; DT is the dive key; SS is the pitch key (should be a pull...some coaches tell the QB to automatically pull it against this look...not a bad idea because the read happens so fast)
2) Zone block the DT and MLB with the PSG and PST; OLB is the dive key; SS is the pitch key (be careful of the MLB run through in the A-gap...PSG and PST should block the DT with their hands and keep their eyes on the MLB)
3) Block down on the DT with the PST and run OSV; OLB is the dive key; SS is the pitch key
I'm sure there are other ways to run a triple option at that front. Keep in mind that it is difficult for a QB (especially a HS QB) to read a defender off the LOS for the dive/pull decision.
