It is the same as on an option play: the quarterback can pitch the ball downfield, but the player to whom it was pitched gets all the rushing yards.

Who gets credit for the catch/yards?

correct......meaning: player 1 catches ball 10 yds downfield then pitches it to player 2 who runs for 20 more yards making the total play 30 yards long.

player 1 = 1 reception; 10 yards
player 2 = 1 carry; 20 yards
QB = 1 completion; 10 yards
total offense = 30 yards.

It is my understanding that the second "receiver" gets RECEIVING yards, not rushing yards, and is not credited with a reception or a rushing attempt. The quarterback gets the total distance on his passing yards... (this came from the National Federation for what its worth)

On the option question asked.. the QB would get the rushing yards to the point that the lateral was caught and the back would get the rest. The carry goes to the QB and not the RB as long as the pitch was beyond the line of scrimmage.
