We were an Option Team (Flexbone) an we scrapped the Option this year for the I attack...well, we had ZERO offense through a scrimmage and our opener.

The Option is going back in, Outside and Inside Veer. We are not going back to the Flexbone due to past issues with motions etc...

I was looking for some opinions on the plusses and minuses of the Split Back Veer versus the I formation option game...

On the other hand, a lot of option coaches don't like the angle of the fullback dive on outside veer from the I.

Most of the time it is a keep anyways, and when we do give the backs are looking to cut back outside after crossing the line of scrimmage.

If you run a speed option, the I-back would create a better pitch relationship

I like the fact that you can easily blend a "power" run game with the "option" game out of the "I".
