Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I would like to know your thoughts on swapping linemen. Having linemen that only play to the open side and having linmen that only play to the TE (strong) side. We are looking at doing this and just want to know some other coaches thoughts on the subject.
Need more depth to do it because (for example) your #3 Guard can't replace BOTH of your starters. He is EITHER "strongside" or "openside". A lot of good teams use it, however!
I would agree with Oneback, it takes depth and talent to make this strategy work. Consider your offensive scheme and place your lineman accordingly. For example, if you like to throw the ball your T's should be fairly athletic with your left T your best blocker. If you like to "pound the rock" align your OL according to the defenses you see most often. My best drive blockers are my guards since we see numerous even front defenses.
You both make excellent points. I have no depth and my kids are not very bright so I was trying to make it as simple as possible for them as I could. So instead of flopping the lines we have cut our offense dwon to 6 running plays and 3 protections.
