Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Understand the best coverage will be somewhat decided by the type of offense you are facing. My favorite defensive coverage is man under cover 2. If you are asking for a purely zone defense I think Cover 2 is a good generic defense. Our D coordinator runs a lot of Cover 3 and I personally think cover 3 is easier for a marginal HS QB and WR to attack. Cover 4 works good if you face teams that throw more than run but in our league it would be a waste with the teams we see.
Excellent Choice.

As with most anything in football.........the best thing to use is what a) you as a coach know and can coach well and b) what your personell can handle.
All things being equal however, I like cover 2 overall for zone, as long as you understand it's strengths and weaknesses. I really like the fact that you can jam the outside receivers and mess up timing routes.
I agree with Teeter, I like cover 2 a whole lot. I do think you have to be able to mix it up and not just sit in a Hard (jamming corners) cover 2 all day. I like to play a Soft 2 as well with the corners pattern reading. I will mostly do this agianst doubles. I sometimes use it agianst a pro formation but just on the Tight end side.
