Im wondering if any of you coaches have any info on how coach Weiss made it to the big time without ever having played Division 1 college ball. Did he just know the right people or what? How did he get his start in College and the NFL?

Ok then maybe I should reword the question. How does a coach in general get into D1 coaching or NFL without having played D1 ball? I mention D1 ball b/c most of the coaches at those levels played at a big school. Playing big time college ball obviously creates many, many contacts for a person that they would otherwise not have. So, lets use Weiss as an example for this. How is it that he went straight from coaching high school ball to coaching at a Div 1 school and then right to the NFL?? And he never even played college ball at any level?
