Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We just played a team that stuffed 8 men in the box and blitzed heavy. Basically they took away all of our inside running game and spied our QB who is our best running back. We tried a lot of speed and even threw in a toss at half time that we never practiced. We ended up passing for over 300 yards and came up short in a our first loss of the season.
I know we will see a lot more of this. How do you attack this defense? Any other outside running game ideas? The defense came hard up the middle and off the edges.
P.S. We came up 15 yards short of the goal line on the "money" play. We had three shots at it and unfortunately we should have called the money play 1st or 2nd.
WIth 8 men in the box get the ball outside. Another way to empty the box is to spread the defense out by formation. But if an opponent wants to gang up on you then get the ball to the perimeter. Coach CAmpbell
The past 2 weeks we saw variations of the 4-4 and 5-3 vs our spread offense. We were not able to run the ball very well either. Our run game became bubble screen, tunnel screen, quick hitch. Once we established the quick perimeter game it slowed the blitz down and even forced them to take the 8th man out of the box.
Good luck,
JD
