Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
i have been reading your book "How To Install The Complete Option Game" and don't quite understand how the loaded option differs from what you called the block option. any help would be appreciated.
Although I certainly wouldn't pretend to have Coach Campbell's expertise on the option game, I am pretty familiar with his system and believe I can hopefully answer your question.
Load option under most circumstances calls for the fullback to bypass the pitch read, turning upfield to make a block on a safety or other secondary defender. "Block" tells a back normally in a pitch relationship to block the pitch read instead. For example, we like to run 10/11 Block back to the openside out of a pro set, which is a version of midline with the TB blocking the playside linebacker instead of pitching off him which is very rare when running midline anyway. Load option can be run the same way with the lead back blocking the 9 technique or EMLOS rather than releasing and reading him to make a pitch.
I hope I've at least conveyed the different concepts to you before Coach Campbell can give you a more detailed answer.
