Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Teams have been loading up on our veer the last few weeks and basically shutting down our running game. luckily we have a really good passing game and have been getting by. i need help on running against this defense though, because we have to be able to run the ball. the past week we faced a 6-2 and that the lineman basically stunted somewhere everyplay. their basic alighnment on both sides of the ball if we were doubletight was 3, 5, 9 and the 3-s and 5-s pinched about every play and was blowing us up. their lineman were really good and gave us a hard time. yeah i know we run sneak a few times for decent gains but they eventually shut that down too. we had to throw for 280 yards to win. this week we will see the same thing except they will have a nose inside added with the 3's, 5's and 9's. if they do the same thing as last year with double tight it will be a 7-1. if in a pro set it will be a 6-2. yeah we think we can throw on them ( even though they have a good secondary), but we need to be able to RUN..... if we can get the 5 moved we can run osv. their lineman are big and strong. ISV might be better and read the 5. we are thinking of running just called dive and 4 & 5 leads. we dont know if we can hook the 5 and 9 to run speed option. ( we hook the DE with the TE) ideas please.

new2veer,
Just an idea here but couldnt you just run Lead/Load option of your pro set...have your TE help PLS Tackle by chipping on the 5 tech and going up to MLB...have your FB either kickout or Log the 9 tech depending on how he plays it.
I'm thinking along the same lines as Coach Nicholson also. What about running speed option from an ace set? Run 2 WR, 2 TE, and 1 RB and run speed option left and right. When we've had a QB capable of running it, we will go to various one back sets and run speed option. We will even use motion to possibly gain an advantage.
Whatever you do, make sure you can get the ball to the corner! If you have a scheme that downblocks... like a buck sweep, run it! Get the ball on the corner and hopefully that stops teams from pinching. I know when teams do it to us, we continue to run veer, but a veer team has to be outstanding at all three phases of the triple option. They usually can't stop all three. If they can, they are that much better than you. Good luck.
