The weightroom is a great place for this to start. Every monday we do 1 of 2 things that all the players learn to love to hate. We do Last Man standing or 20 squats. Last man standing is 5x5 with 80% of their max. They get 15 sec rest after the 1st set, then 30 sec, 45, and then 60. On the last set a coach blows a wistle and everone goes at the same time. the last man standing is the champ. You must go to failure on the last set. If you don't get 5 or quit earlly we are all over the guy. It force guys to push throught the pain and not to quit. The other one we do is 1 set of 20 with about 75%. They can take as long as they want but cannot rack the weight unless they do all 20. If they fail the rack the weight then finish their reps. We keep track on the board who completed all 20 and who failed. Once again this happens every Monday and the kids know it. It is crazy in the weightroom that day. Guys are yelling and screaming and pushing each other.

Look for a copy of the book "THE GRASS IS GREENER" by Lou Holtz. Had GREAT toughness drills (on wrestling mats) for off-season. Don't know where you can find it - but try bookfinder.com addall.com abebooks.com ALL USED BOOK DEALERS!
I can but it is based upon Olymipic Lifts. Myself and our other strength coach are both certified coaches by USA weightlifting in the olymipic lifts. We still do bench a squat as well as Snatch and Clean and Jerk. After our core lifts for the day we have aux lifts for the other body parts like the shoulders, arms, back, etc... We finish each day with CORE and jumping rope. We push perfect technique early in the year and lower weights then as the year progresses we get to heavier weights. Our normal cycle is 6 weeks.

I base some of core lift with olympic type lifts: mostly the Hang clean, High Pulls, Power Shrugs and Push Press. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
