Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I’m trying to put together some wham plays and was wondering what you guys think. We would run it out of a wing I with a TE on the back side and a wing and split to the play side. I think this would be a good series of plays because the WB crossing the formation will freeze the backers at least one step. It will give you an extra receiver on any boots back. Plus I hope it will make the D-line men hesitate, its hard to tee off on a team that has blockers coming down on you from the outside when the majority of the traps you will see during the year will come from the inside. There are a couple other counters and screens I am considering off of this action too. But for now this is the basic blocking scheme for an ISO and Zone. Let me know what you think. Wham Iso:
Wingback block first defender on L.O.S. inside PSG.
PSG: Leave inside gap, block outside gap if no defender work up to second level
PST: Block end man on L.O.S. out.
C: scoop to play side gap
BSG: scoop to play side gap
BST: scoop to play side gap
TE. Scoop to play side gap.
FB: Lead through hole, if needed block overhang defender
So against a 40 front the wing would block a 1 tech and v.s. a 50 or 30 the nose.
Wham zone
Wingback block first defender on L.O.S. backside of the center.
PSG: normal zone rules.
PST: normal zone rules.
C: normal zone rules.
BSG: normal zone rules.
BST: uncovered zone rules.
TE: Normal zone rules.
FB: normal zone rules
