Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
If a team lines up in the old run and shoot with a snapper with the line off to the right and a back behind the line. A wide out oposite of the line and a QB directly behind the snapper and another player behind him. Can the snapper put his hand on the ball then shift to a PAT formation with the snapper letting go of the ball and move to a wing spot? Hope this makes sence.
I believe that once the snapper has placed his hand or hands on the ball he may not remove them until the ball actually leave or be taken from his hand(s) via a snapping motion. He has actually assumed a set position as the snapper (even though he is on the end of the LOS) and may not move his feet abruptly from the start of the snap until the ball has left his hands. It could be misconceived as simulating the start of the play thus a false start = five yard penalty from the previous spot. I know that the center can not remove his hand(s) as an interior lineman once placed on the ball until the snap.
Interior linemen may shift from a two-point stance when the Center has placed his hand(s) on the ball similar to what the Dallas Cowboys did under Coach Tom Landry. However, once they assume a three-point stance they can not shift or move. Infraction = false start.
If he takes his hand off the ball, I'm telling my kid to pounce on that thing!
It is my understanding that you can not touch the ball and then let go, and re-touch the ball- it is a live ball as soon as center moves the ball OR lets go.
