Dear Coaches,
I am very happy to report that the good Lord has seen fit to give me some additional time. It seems after a lifetime of enjoying seemingly good health, I was really not all that healthy. It caused me to be lulled into a false sense of security and I never was one to run to a Doctor every five minutes, in fact I stayed away from them as much as was possible over the years.
I had contracted a liver problem that had built up and caused edema throughout my body in just a few days time. I went in to the ER to get checked when my lungs started filling like someone had a hose down my throat. Had I not been in the ER when it happened....... But, after a period of touch and go for the next 51/2 hours when my doctor saved my life using his medical expertise that was granted to him by hard study and the grace of God, the good Lord saw fit to extend my time. After a 12 day hospital stay, 10 of which were in the intensive care unit, they let me come home.
The Lord has added strength each day and is helping me to a fulll recovery! I have been home for what will be 2 full months come dec.7, and have been walking faithfully each day for over a month now. I was on 8 pills a day at first and for a man who never even hardly took an aspirin, that was a tough adjustment to make. But, here again the lord has reduced the number of pills to only 1 a day!!! They took 87.5 lbs of weight off me in about a 36 day period! It was all that excess fluid that had built up over the years from the undetected liver problem. They literally stuck a needle in my stomach and drained off 9 liters of the fluid! They used diuretics to get rid of the rest of it. I now weigh 159 lbs after going into the hospital at 243!!! This being thin is ok after you get used to it. I weigh exactly what I did as a High School QB!
