I am looking to compare workouts that use tire pulling as a component.
I had kids pull tires and run with weighted footballs in previous off-seasons. I am going back to these drills as these workouts seperate the players from pretenders.
Anybody pulling tires for a workout in the off-season? Looking to here from you. What type of drills are you using. How do start and end your progression?
Many thanks.
Weighted footballs - I either inflate them with a submerged bicycle pump. Or cut them open and fill with sand. Sprints with two hand covering the points or High and Tight.
We are incorporating the tire pull into our progrram this year. As I am the Oline coach, i will be using it for Oline purposes, i.e. explosion and staying low on take off, and mental toughness. I am oly going to make them pull the tire a maximum of 20 yards. We will do this inconjunction with our tire flipping drills. These segements of the work out will be done after they have completed the usual strength, speed, and agility part of our workout.
