Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have just been informed of a head coaching job that opened up all of a sudden here in my area. I am a young coach, mid-20's, and therefore I am not sure the interview committee will take me as seriously as an older candidate. I have seen Coach Campbell and TM offer up their interview packets but I have been unable to acquire one yet. I know they get a lot of requests for their interview packets so I was wondering if someone who has already received one could pass it along to me so I can blow some socks off at my interview. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. You can email me at husker_pimpin@yahoo.com Thank you all,
By the way, Eric Mangini was hired as the head coach of the Jets today. Eric will be 35 years old on Thursday. I saw him speak at a clinic last year, and he is, without question, the greatest college or professional speaker I have ever seen. He said at his press-conference the following: "Bill Walsh said that nobody is ever ready for their first head coaching job. There will be so many bumps along the way. But who in this room was ready to be a parent? When you had your first child, were you REALLY ready?" Give that to the interview committee... it should wow them.
I was the youngest head football in coach in Pennsylvania when I was 25. I took over a situation one year in mid-July where there were 12 kids out for football. We went 2-18 in two years, because we could not compete with the schools on our schedule. Every school we played had more than 30 kids on the roster. The one who didn't was the one we always defeated. Be careful where you decide to take a job. Make sure you have a nucleus of kids who are willing to be at off-season and pre-season workouts EVERY DAY.
Make sure you know how to handle parents and how to discipline your players. Those are the two most common concerns of an interview committee. By the end of this month, I will have done over 20 interviews in my career. That's what they want to know. In addition, practice on answering questions by following the posts in the "Jobs" section of this website. They were actual questions asked to me THIS YEAR. I was a finalist for both positions. I have three interviews in the next 10 days, so I will have more questions to post. Do not hesitate when answering a question... have a plan for all your answers. Good luck and keep me posted on what happens.

All YOUNG coaches who have less than 10 years coaching experience, please take this advice to heart:
It is the desire of every man that I have ever met in this great coaching profession, my own tenure is now 42 years on field having been forced to give it up a few months ago because of health problems, to become a Head Football Coach. That is perfectly natural, normal, and totally acceptable!
However, the WAY THAT YOU GO ABOUT GETTING A GOOD HEAD COACHING JOB ( AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SOME RINKY DINK PROGRAM THAT IS 0 FOR THE CENTURY) IS NOT THE WAY WAY SOME OF THE YOUNG GUYS APPROACH IT TODAY.
IN ORDER TO GET A REALLY GOOD HEAD COACHING JOB AT A WORTHWHILE PROGRAM, YOU MUST PUT YOUR TIME IN TO SERVE AS THE TRUSTED ASSISTANT TO A WELL ESTABLISHED, SUCCESSFUL HEAD COACH WITH AN OUTSTANDING WON- LOST RECORD AND IS HIGHLY THOUGHT OF IN THE COACHING CIRCLES!!! THEN, WHEN YOUR OPPORTUNITY ARISES, YOU HAVE REAL CREDENTIALS AND A RECOMMENDATION FROM SOMEONE WHO REALLY MEANS SOMETHING TO PRSENT TO THE SEARCH COMMITTEE!
IF THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO ACCOMPLISH, THEN YOU MUST PUT YOUR TIME IN WHERE YOU ARE AT AND AFTER A NUMBER OF YEARS YOUR CHANCE WILL COME TO BE THE MAN AT THAT PROGRAM.
ALL THESE GUYS WHO BECOME HEAD COACHES JUST FOR THE SAKE OF FULFILLING THEIR DREAM OF DOING SO, AND TAKE THESE HC JOBS AT A LESS THAN ADEQUATE, COMPETITIVE SCHOOL ARE JUST RUINING THEMSELVES AND A REAL CHANCE FOR A GOOD JOB FARTHER DOWN THE LINE IN THERE CAREER. YOU MUST REALIZE THAT WORKING AT A WINNING PROGRAM IS WHAT CARRIES WEIGHT WITH ANY COMMITTEE!!! THE MEN WHO GET A CHANCE VERY EARLY, WITH LITTLE EXPERIENCE ARE MOST OFTEN FACED WITH SITUATIONS THAT THEY JUST DO NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO COPE WITH. OH SURE, THEIR EGOS TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE READY FOR ANY CHALLENGE THAT COMES THEIR WAY, BUT WHEN IT ACTUALLY COMES, THEY MORE TIMES THAN NOT, FAIL MISERABLY.
PUT YOUR TIME IN, GET GOOD SOLID EXPERIENCE IN A WINNING PROGRAM, THEN START APPLYING FOR A HC JOB. IMO, TO DO IT ANY OTHER WAY IS AS SUPERFLOUS AS SPITTING IN THE WIND.
